Zoom Microscope Information in a Flash
Zoom microscope comes in other monikers such as zoom-stereo microscope since a zoom microscope is actually a stereo microscope with zoom capability. In this type of stereoscopic microscope, the magnification can vary continuously. Like many adjustment components in microscopes, a zoom microscope enables users to control the magnification the specimen.
With a zoom microscope, it’s wondrous to see how you look like you are diving into the sample while adjusting its magnification. That’s the zoom microscope’s power. Read the rest of this entry »

What is a Slit Lamp Microscope?
Also known as a “biomicroscope”, a slit lamp microscope is a kind of microscope that is attached with a light for an eye doctor to examine one’s eye. The anterior parts of the eye such as the cornea, conjunctiva, iris, lashes, lens, lids and pupil are viewed with the slit lamp microscope using high magnification. Two Fun Biology Experiments
Biology came from two Latin words “bios”, which means life; and “logos”, which means study or science. Combined, biology is the study of life. Biologists are those who choose to be life-long educators of themselves about the wonders of the nature and life processes. And what makes biology education more fulfilling and easier to carry out? It’s with the help of biology experiments.
Here are some important biology experiments that make use of microscope in discovering various phenomena and elements of life forms. Read the rest of this entry »

Two Easy Kid Science Projects Using Microscopes
Kid science projects are the first few discovery lessons that children can learn a lot from. From learning new scientific mechanisms they actually can witness in their daily lives to knowing other information and traits that will make them more confident and ready to face more challenges in their lives, kid science projects are a great way to show kids the way to how things happen in our world.
One of the best kinds of kid science projects includes those that make use of the ever wondrous microscope. A microscope is an instrument that makes minute organisms visible with the naked eye. Here are some of the most fun and easy kid science projects that your children can enjoy and learn from: Read the rest of this entry »

Why teach your kids about human biology?
If you want to develop your children’s powers of observation and critical thinking, human biology is the best place to start. Children are naturally curious about how the body works. Teaching them about human biology will help them become knowledgeable about their own bodies. An understanding of human biology will also promote the development of good health habits.
Human biology every morning
Dressing young children every morning is a good opportunity to discuss human biology. Recite the parts of the body with them. Explain why they have to take baths and brush their teeth. As they grow older, a knowledge of human biology will help them understand why they have to eat fruit and vegetables, get enough exercise, and avoid tobacco and alcohol. Read the rest of this entry »

Types of Microscopes for Every Type of Laboratory Geek
“My Uncle Harry had given me a microscope as a present which allowed me to continue my personal explorations of the living world.” - Sydney Brenner
It definitely is one thoughtful to be given a microscope if you are the type of person who loves discovering things your naked eye can’t see, isn’t it? However, if you are thinking of giving a microscope as a present but would not know what type of microscope to give, how do you know what type of microscope will suit the receiver of your present?
Simple, learn the various types of microscopes. The two general classifications of microscopes are the scanning probe microscopes and the optical theory microscopes. Optical theory microscopes benefit from lenses and a passage of wave through the specimen in producing and magnifying its image. On the other hand, scanning probe microscopes produce micrographs, usually of the sample’s surface only, through making the tip of the scanning probe microscope touch the sample. The Development of Early Microscopes
A microscope is an instrument used to view or observe specimens that are too small to be seen by the naked eye. The microscope is one indispensable tool in the study of life. Its invention and development is therefore considered as very significant in the science of biology and is one of the most significant parts of its history.
The earliest known instrument to be used for biological studies was simple microscopes in the form of a magnifying lens. A magnifying lens is considered as a simple microscope since it only has one lens. The credit for developing the world’s earliest compound microscope goes to the Janssen brothers. The Janssen brothers were a pair of Dutch spectacle makers. Read the rest of this entry »
